AFTER a patchy season, Dieudonne Disi  will be more than glad to crown off the season with a gold medal this afternoon.

The 29-year-old will take to the track in the 10,000m of the 6th Francophone Games in Beirut, Lebanon.
And having won the 2005 edition in Niger, Disi is eager to put up a replica display.

Disi has not been his usual best after a number of injuries this season. The athlete has not won a medal in a major international championship. Disi dropped out of the Berlin Marathon in August but a second spot finish in the 16 km Paris-Versailles race should be good inspiration.

Besides the 10,000m event, he is also plotting to go a notch better in the 5000m where he won bronze in 2005.
Prior to Disi’s race, Jeanne d’Arc Uwamahoro will race in the 800m qualification heats.

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s table tennis team has been exposed at the on-going Games.

The inexperienced team made up of Steve Sibomana and Fontaine Mukamuhizi failed to win a single game in their group (A) which comprises of Canada, Switzerland, Bulgaria and Armenia.

But according to Rwanda’s Chef de Mission, Emmanuel Bugingo believes the dismal show is a result of inexperience and little exposure at international level.
