China celebrates National Day

The Chinese Embassy in Rwanda on Thursday held a reception to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Prime Minister Bernad Makuza was the guest of honour.Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, Sun Shuzhong delivered a speech, highlighting dramatic changes in China over the past 60 years.

The Chinese Embassy in Rwanda on Thursday held a reception to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

Prime Minister Bernad Makuza was the guest of honour.
Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, Sun Shuzhong delivered a speech, highlighting dramatic changes in China over the past 60 years.

He touched on China’s prosperity and the successful mutual cooperation initiatives with Rwanda, emphasising that the celebration of the Chinese National Day in Kigali was an occasion to renew the ‘excellent bilateral relations’ between the two countries.

"Our bilateral ties have grown significantly in the recent years, both countries have rendered support to each other on issues bearing upon each other’s core interests” he said.
"We have maintained consultations and coordination on global issues such as the financial crisis, energy security, food safety, climate change and the HINI fight.”

Shuzhong gave special mention to President Paul Kagame’s constructive role in the peace process of the Great Lakes Region and as the current rotating President of the EAC, particularly in promoting economic and political integration in the region.

Premier Mukuza commended China for its incredible achievements calling it inspirational for other nations aiming to follow suit.

"The founding of the Peoples Republic of China marked the beginning of a powerful nation that continues to inspire many other countries,” Mukuza said.

Mukuza called for continuous solidarity between Rwanda and China that will allow for shared benefits and achievements.

The Chinese government supports Rwanda in areas of Health, Education Capacity building, infrastructure development and agricultural technology

The People’s Republic of China was founded on September 30, 1949.
