MUHANGA – Residents of Mushishiro sector in Muhanga District have agreed to promote patriotism as a way of redeeming their history.

The residents made the resolutions on September 24, ahead of the national Patriotism Day which is celebrated every October 1.

During the period from 1997 to 1998 Mushishiro zone (former Bulinga Commune) witnessed various levels of rebel infiltration from the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.

In this, local leaders and residents have commended the government for patriotism awareness, which they say has led to development.

Védaste Habinshuti, the Sector Executive Secretary, remarked that residents now have positive attitude towards government programmes.

‘They have been involved in constructing schools, health centers, feeder roads, and collected Rwf1.4million for the 9 year Basic Education programme,’ he said.
