RWANDA’s volleyball giants APR attested that they value discipline more than silverware after suspending head coach Jean Luc Ndayikengurukiye yesterday; barely a day before today’s Coupe du Rwanda final with Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC).
The club’s vice president Jean Pierre Kayumba revealed that the 34-year-old coach was suspended because of playing for one of the Coupe du Rwanda sides- Nonas (a team comprising of former national team players).
"We suspended him because he not only defied the tournament rules but also didn’t inform us,” Kayumba said.
"The players totally understand the management’s decision,” the official added.
APR women coach Paul Bitok will be in charge of the team.
KVC is now ready to pounce on the incident.
The club’s head coach Jean Marie Nsengiyumva believes the suspension may have a negative effect on the players.
"In such cases, it’s obvious that players find it hard to cope but that is there problem. We are in the final and just want to win it,” he added.
The ladies final pits APR with Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA).
