Rwanda Energy Group (REG) basketball rub shoulders with Kenya’s KPA on Wednesday, April 23, in the opening game of the regional Genocide memorial hoops tournament at Petit Stade.

Four matches will be played on day one of the tournament which runs at two various venues, Petit Stade and NPC, till Sunday, April 27.

A total of 12 teams, six in each of men’s and women’s categories, will contest in the four-day-competition.

Four of the teams will travel for the competition in Kigali from Tanzania and Uganda and Kenya, joining eight other teams from host nation Rwanda

The teams were drawn into four pools, (two men’s and two women’s), from which the top two teams from each pool will qualify for semi-finals on Saturday and finals on Sunday, April 27.

In men’s tournament, Pool A comprises APR, Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) while Pool B is made up of Patriots, United Generations Basketball (UGB) and DAR City from Tanzania.

In Women’s category, Pool A consists of REG, EAUR and JKL Lady Dolphins from Uganda whereas APR, Kepler and KPA from Kenya make Pool B.
