Rwanda Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) has confirmed that a total 12 clubs will participate in the 2025 Basketball Genocide Memorial Tournament which run from Wednesday, April 23, through April 27 in Kigali. The tournament is organised annually in honour of members of the basketball fraternity who lost their lives during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The four-day tournament will this time attract six teams in each of men and women’s categories. ALSO READ: Basketball: Genocide memorial tournament set for April 23 Two foreign teams—Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Dar City from Tanzania —were invited to participate in the men’s competition while Uganda’s JKL Lady Dolphins and Kenya’s KPA will join local teams for the women’s tournament. The game lost over 30 of its athletes, coaches and administrators during the tragedy. Participating teams Men Group A: APR, Rwanda Energy Group (REG) and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). Group B: Patriots, United Generations Basketball (UGB) and DAR City. Women Group A: REG, EAUR and JKL Lady Dolphins Group B: APR, Kepler and KPA.
