APR Women Volleyball Club were off to a perfect start to the 2025 Women's African Volleyball Club Championship, as they came from a set down to beat Tunisian giants Club Féminin de Carthage (CFC) in four sets 3-1 (18-25, 26-24, 25-23, 25-22) in Group A opening match held at Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria on Thursday, April 3.
CFC, who won the tournament twice, secured the first set 18-25 before APR regrouped, with setter Diane Mpuhwezimana and receiving hitter Lizzy Gasekgonwe leading the squad to fight back and claim the second set 26-24 and third set 25-23.

The decisive set saw both teams go head-to-head in an intense battle. CFC were leading 19-18 the set but APR capitalized on the Tunisians’ mistakes to secure their first game, ending the set 25-22.
"Winning means a lot for us, we started the first set badly but we changed and corrected our mistakes," said captain Valentine Munezero.
The Women&039;s African Volleyball Club matchup continues on Friday, April 5, where Police WVC will face Kenya Pipeline at 6 pm.
