RWANDA’S professional golfers Emmanuel Ruterana and Jean Baptiste Hakizimana have set their eyes on this weekend’s Shell Open.

The two-day tournament, which tees off on Saturday in Fort Portal, Uganda has over Shs7m (Frw2.3) in prize money.

Speaking after yesterday’s practice session at Kigali’s golf course, Ruterana said that the package was enticing and that he is already looking forward to the challenge.

"The package is good and I’m looking forward to the tournament,” he said.

Ruterana however noted that it was important for him to travel early and get the feel of the Fort Portal course it being his first time on the course.

"I’m green about the course and feel I should have some practise to see how it plays,” the former BCR sponsored golfer said.

Ruterana has highlighted the Uganda pair of Deo Akope and Godfrey Manzi as his major threats.
