Shall we get our UNISA/KIE monies back?

Editor,

I read your newspaper everyday and thank you for the endless effort you make to clarify information and to report on bad practices of some Rwandans and Rwandan institutions.

I read about the UNISA/KIE case and wanted to add something to the debate. I’m one of many students who dealt with UNISA through KIE.

Some of my colleagues say it was a way for KIE to get free money from the public.

How did the saga evolve? As soon as we learnt about the UNISA/KIE program, we rushed to get registered for courses. We asked for info at KIE through one GAHIMA, the UNISA representative, who asked us first to pay $ 20 at KIE Account hosted in BNR, and then bring the "Dossier "for admission application and then Rwf 18,500 for the socalled "courier” to South Africa.

We did everything he told us to do.  Since then, we never heard any news of UNISA.  Our money went up in smoke in the air…no admission and no further information about our cases since 2007.

What happened?  We do not know. When we contacted Mr. GAHIMA about the case, he gave us the cold shoulder.

Please New Times, help us to make this case public and bring it to the attention of the Education Authorities.

We’d like to ask Dr. MULIGANDE Charles, the Minister of Education to intervene and to help get back our money.
