Female peacekeepers from the Rwandan Battalion (RWABG VII), serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), commemorated International Women’s Day (IWD) with local women in Bria Town, Haute-Koto Prefecture, Central African Republic (CAR).

Observed annually on March 8, International Women’s Day celebrates women&039;s achievements and advocates for gender equality. According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, the event in Bria strengthened unity and enhanced cooperation between Rwandan peacekeepers and the local community.
"RWABG VII female soldiers reaffirmed their commitment to empowering local women through mentorship and capacity-building programs. Their engagement fostered deeper connections and inspired hope for a more inclusive future,” the statement read in part.

During the celebration, peacekeepers and local women "pledged to continue working together to promote peace, security, and women’s rights in the region.”
This event follows the recent graduation of 438 new soldiers from the Central African Republic Armed Forces (FACA), including 38 women, who completed six months of military training conducted by the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) on March 7.
