FDLR courts former Burundian rebels

FDLR rebels are luring former Burundian rebels from Forces Nationale de la Liberation (FNL), into their ranks with the promises of wealth from minerals.

According to UN reports, the Burundian rebels are being lured since most of them are unemployed and have been demobilized by the Burundian government.

The UN mission in the DRC and Burundian military officials revealed on Wednesday that hundreds of the former Burundian rebels are crossing over to DRC to join the FDLR.

Murigande visits Rulindo

The Minister of Education Charles Murigande yesterday visited Rurindo district to discuss the government’s ongoing plan to construct classrooms to facilitate the 9-year basic education with the parents.

Of the 3,172 classrooms to be built across the country, 111 are to be built in Rulindo district in Northern Province.

Bazivamo visits Kirehe

Local Government minister, Christopher Bazivamo yesterday visited Kirehe district in the Eastern Province to discuss the developmental policies with leaders and residents.

Bazivamo and district officials toured the sectors and acknowledged successful farmers in the district.He urged district officials to always work closely with residents.

Gisagara youth pool resources

Youth  in Gisagara district, Southern province, have established a savings and credit cooperative geared towards development of the area. Each youth contributed Rwf10, 000 to the cooperative.

Gasabo district employees donate to one dollar

The staff and residents of Gasabo district yesterday donated over Rwf 8.8m to One Dollar Campaign for construction of houses for the genocide survivors.

Speaking during the function, the mayor of Gasabo Claudine Nyinawagaga thanked the employees for their contribution.

She called upon the concerned parties to expedite the process to start the construction works of the hostel in Kagugu, Gasabo.

Nyarugenge mayor visits Mageragere

The mayor of Nyarugenge district,Eugene Rutayisire yesterday visited Mageragere to witness the development that has been achieved in the area.

Addressing the residents, Eugene Rutayisire said that the district plans to put more executive secretaries in all sectors.
He also urged them to maintain the spirit of developing the district at the current pace.

Students complain over punishment

Students of Kamonyi Secondary School in Kamonyi district have complained over the kind of punishment administered  the school administration.

The students said that they are given large chunks of land to dig as a punishment once they get to school late, which they say is making them miss lessons.
