The Equity Market

This week, the Rwanda OTC market was quiet and recorded no transactions.

Thursday 20th August 2009, on the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE) a total of 444,800 KCB shares were traded. KCB shares traded between 21.00 Kshs (Rwf.156) and Kshs 22.00 (Rwf 164) to close at Kshs 21.50 (Rfw 160).

The NSE all share indexes closed 0.81 points down to close at 69.40.

The trading volumes were lower than the previous day; 17,930,400 shares were traded with a turnover of Kshs 121,182,955 on Thursday while 23, 713,200 shares had been traded with a turnover of Kshs 253,155,245 on Wednesday.

DSE (Dares Salaam Stock Exchange) and USE (Uganda Securities Exchange) did not trade KCB shares.

The Bond Market:

On the bond market no transactions were recorded.

At the close of business, Rwf 2 billion worth of Government bonds were on offer (sellers) at Rwf 99.8 and there were two bids (buyers) of Rwf 2 billion and Rwf 5 million for the same bonds at 94.00 and 97.80, respectively.

There were also BCR bank bonds worth Rwf 150 million on offer at Rwf 100.50.
