THIS year’s Cecafa/Bashir Youth Championship kicks off this evening with a hotly contested tie between Ethiopia and Uganda in Juba, Sudan.

It will be the only game of the day after Cecafa’s decision to reschedule the Kenya-Zanzibar game for tomorrow.

In an email to Times Sport, Cecafa’s Secretary General Nicholas Musonye revealed that the changes were made after the body learning that some teams would not arrive on time.

"Because of the recent strikes in Kenya Airways, there has been a heave back log of passengers.

Teams like Kenya, Zanzibar and Rwanda together with some officials and referees had their flights delayed. So we have been forced to make slight changes in the fixtures,” the email read in part.

Rwanda’s junior wasps will open their Group C campaign on Thursday when they play Egypt in Medani while defending champions Burundi will open their title defense against Eritrea.
Rwanda will then face Eritrea on Saturday before winding up their Group campaign with a tough test against Burundi two days later.

The event has attracted twelve teams and the top two teams and the best two qualifiers from the three groups qualify for the quarter finals.
