Emerging Rwandan golfer Celestin Nsanzuwera was crowned champion of the 2025 Rwanda Open Golf Tournament that concluded in Kigali on Saturday, February 15.
The the-day competition, which ran from Wednesday, saw Nsanzuwera overcome tough challenger from more than 100 professional golfers from Africa and overseas to win the coveted prize.

Nsanzuwera had 206 points to emerge winner. He took home a $50,000 cash prize (Rwf70,050,000). Zimbabwe’s Promise Sembreiro emerged first runner-up with 208 points whereas Visitor Mapwanya, also from Zimbabwe, finished in third place with 211 points. Uganda&039;s Ronald Rugumayo finished fourth with 213 points.
Nsanzuwera is gradually establishing himself as a force to reckon with Golf in Rwanda and East Africa as a whole. His latest victory in Kigali is an improvement from his recent performance in Kampala where finished third in the Johnnie Walker Uganda Open in September 2024.
Meanwhile, Peace Kabasweka from Uganda was named as Women's Gross Champion with an impressive 242 points.
At least 27 countries, including US, UK, Sweden, the United States, France as well as various African countries, were represented at 2025 Rwanda Open.
