Java-Inovotec veteran rider Patrick Byukusenge says his team is motivated to challenge for top prizes at the upcoming Tour du Rwanda 2025 which is slated from February 23 to March 2, 2025.

Byukusenge is one of the most experienced Rwandan riders currently, having participated in Tour du Rwanda since 2014.

"The target is to challenge for top positions in the race because we are hungry to achieve better results. I have confidence that we can do better this year,” he said.

"This is one of the biggest races in Africa, so we have to give 100 percent because it comes once in year. We just need to keep working hard and stay focused,” he added.

In 2018, Byukusenge won the Central Race competition that started in Musanze and ended in Muhanga. He also won the Rwanda Cycling Cup, as well as the Muhazi, and Rubavu – Musanze challenges.

In the same year, Byukusenge finished in fifth place in the general classification of Tour du Rwanda, where he was 3 minutes and 08 seconds behind Joseph Areruya who won the competition.
