GICUMBI -  Byumba town landlords have started rehabilitation works on their commercial buildings following the districts’ directives to get rid of poor structures, in order to give the town a new facelift.

The rehabilitation come days after the provincial governor; Aime Bosenibamwe reiterated the directive to raze down old buildings in the town.

"It is my duty as area governor to ensure that government development programmes including modernising our urban cities are implemented as soon as possible,” he told residents at Byumba Hospital.

The work has however, been delayed, as a directive issued early this year instructed landlords to pull down old structures in March.
