Volleyball: APR edges Police in thrilling four-set battle

APR players celebrate their great performance against Police.

APR Volleyball Club defeated Police VC 3-1 (18-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-23) in the opening match of the ninth day of the Rwanda Men's Volleyball Championship on Friday, January 24 at Petit Stade.

APR VC went into the match without two of its key players: Venuste Gatsinzi, a right hitter and Bertin Masabo, a libero, both of whom have injury problems.

It was Police that led first, winning the opening set by 25-18, but APR came from behind to win the second one 25-23, before claiming the third and fourth as well, 25-21 and 25-23 respectively.

This was the first game that Police VC lost in this year’s season.

Despite the loss, Police continues to lead the league standings with 24 points, while APR is in second place with 18 points, followed by Kepler with 15 points.

In the women’s category, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) triumphed over East African University (EAU) with a convincing straight-set win of 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-17), while Police women defeated APR 3-0.
