Tems confirms Kigali performance

Nigerian star Tems is set to light up BK Arena in Kigali on March 22, just two days after her show at The Dome, Nasrec, Johannesburg.

Known for her soulful voice and a sound that effortlessly blends Afrobeat, R&B, and neo-soul, Tems has made waves globally.

She rose to fame with her feature on Wizkid&039;s Grammy-nominated hit Essence, earned a Grammy herself, and collaborated with icons like Drake and Beyoncé. With her storytelling and distinctive artistry, Tems continues to shape global music and inspire African talent.

Details on ticket sales for the show are yet to be announced.

Diamond Platnumz: Wedding bells or just talk?

Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has once again hinted at marriage, this time claiming he will wed singer Zuchu next month before Ramadan.

The announcement came during a rally for Tanzania’s ruling party, Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), where Diamond appeared alongside fellow artist Nandy.

Adding fuel to the speculation, Wasafi TV—owned by Diamond—asked its followers if they believed he’d follow through. The buzz follows Diamond’s denial of his relationship with Zuchu during the latest season of Young, Famous & African on Netflix.

Knowless beer name: A coincidence or a tribute?

Singer Knowless Butera and her husband, producer Clement Ishimwe, recently addressed the curious case of a BRALIRWA beverage nicknamed "Knowless.” The drink has carried her name for nearly a decade, sparking rumors about its origins.

In an interview with B&B Kigali FM, Clement explained that the nickname was purely coincidental. "We looked into it and realized BRALIRWA wasn’t involved. If they were, there would have been business agreements, like intellectual property rights or branding deals,” he said.

Knowless added that the beer gained popularity during her win at the Primus Guma Guma Super Star competition in 2015. "It debuted the same year I won PGGSS. Fans in Rwanda and even neighboring countries started calling it Knowless. It was a surprise to us too.”

She shared, "When I started music, people didn’t understand it. Being a woman pursuing music as a profession was seen differently. More people were discouraging me than supporting me.”

She clarified that the name has no connection to imitating Beyoncé, the U.S. pop star, but rather represents her resolve to prove wrong those who doubted her intentions, especially those who viewed her career as a means to exploit her image.

TikTok resumes service after U.S. ban drama

TikTok users in the United States experienced a rollercoaster weekend as the popular video-sharing app briefly went offline before being restored. The disruption followed a federal ban tied to TikTok&039;s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, sparking concerns over national security.

President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to issue an executive order delaying the full enforcement of the ban, aiming to give ByteDance more time to negotiate a deal with an approved buyer. Trump shared on his Truth Social account, "The order will extend the timeline and ensure no liability for companies aiding TikTok during this transition."

This screenshot from a cell phone displays a message from the TikTok app reading "Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now” on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025.

The temporary shutdown came after the Supreme Court ruled that TikTok’s ties to China posed a national security risk, outweighing concerns about free speech for millions of U.S. users. As the app went dark Saturday night, users were met with a message stating, "Sorry, TikTok isn’t available right now. A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S., which means you can’t use TikTok for now."

While ByteDance has resisted selling TikTok, the future of the app remains uncertain amid ongoing debates over its place in the U.S. market.

Snoop Dogg faces backlash over Trump association

Snoop Dogg is under fire from fans following his performance at a pre-inauguration event for President-elect Donald Trump, marking a stark shift from his earlier criticism of the former president.

The rapper, who previously called out Trump in a 2017 video and criticized his administration in interviews, is now being accused of hypocrisy.

In a 2020 radio interview, Snoop declared, "I can’t stand to see this punk in office one more year.” Yet, in a recent 2024 Sunday Times interview, Snoop defended his change of heart, saying, "Donald Trump? He ain’t done nothing wrong to me. He has done only great things for me.”

The backlash was swift on social media, with one X user writing, "Time to throw @SnoopDogg in the dumpster with the rest of Trump's allies." Another declared, "I’ve deleted all Snoop Dogg songs from my playlists."

Critics also pointed to Snoop’s past comments, suggesting the rapper’s latest moves were motivated more by political convenience than genuine support.
