LOST BID: Ignace Beraho

Rwanda National Olympic Committee (RNOC) president Ignace Beraho lost in his bid to claim the post of ANOCA (Association of National Olympic Committee of Africa) Secretary General.

The controversial veteran sports administrator finished a distant fourth in a hotly contested race which was won by Egyptian Counselor Khaled Zein Eldin who collected 20 votes.

His closest challenger was Zimbabwe’s Robert Mutsauki, who managed 13 votes although sources from Abuja indicate the the elections were marred with bad politics and lack of transparency.

"There was lack of transparency and this was a big mistake for Africa because everyone was pissed off,” the source that attended the election exercise told Times Sport yesterday.

Lassana Palenfo retained his seat as Anoca president after beating Cameroon’s Hamad Kalkaba Malboum in a two-man race.

Allen Beatrice (Gambia), Aggrey Moussa Mahamat (Chad), Da Costa Alegre Manuel (Sao Tome and Principe) and Ghana’s Benson Tongo Baba are the new vice presidents.

Nigeria’s Ahmed Gumel Habu is the new treasurer.
