KHARTOUM, SUDAN - THE Secretary General of the Council for East and Central African Football Association (Cecafa) Nicolas Musonye has conceded that Rwanda President Paul Kagame is central to the regional body.

"Kagame’s continuous support of Cecafa activities has attracted sponsorship to Cecafa competitions. Everyone now wants to associate with us,” said Musonye.

Musonye, who praised Kagame as a benevolent leader and very passionate about sports also called upon other leaders in the region to come on board and support Cecafa activities because it also brings about unity.

"If we didn’t have a leader like Kagame to back our activities, we would never have gotten support from the President of Zanzibar and the management of El Merreikh Club who have fully supported this year’s club championship in Sudan,” he added.

Musonye said Cecafa will always hold Kagame in high esteem because his support is what has made Cecafa much stronger.
