Symphony Band is set to re-unite with former member Ariel Wayz (second left) in ‘ Fantasy Music Concert.

THE ENTERTAINMENT SCENE in Rwanda is becoming busier with a series of showbiz news taking the lead to keep entertainment enthusiasts at bay.

The New Times looks at stories that made headlines last week.

Ariel Wayz, Symphony Band to re-unite

Two years ago, Ariel Wayz left Symphony Band after she decided to end her three-year journey with the band to start a solo career.

The decision came as a shock to the band that was at the time targeting to achieve greater things in music with the then lone female and very important member. The rest of the band members didn’t take Wayz’s decision lightly but, because she had already made up her mind, they moved on to do music without her and did all they could to bounce back.

But the split never stopped them from linking up and the band has announced the singer on the performance lineup for their forthcoming concert dubbed ‘Fantasy Music Concert’ coming up in November.

Band leader Etienne Niyontezeho explained that they invited their former band member to their concert to show the public there is no rift between them despite reports that Ariel Wayz was not impressed by Symphony’s move to replace her with Bwiza in their song ‘Nkomeza’ yet she recorded it with them before she left the band.

Singer Patient Bizimana joins wife in the US

When gospel musician Patient Bizimana and wife Gentille Uwera Karamira vowed to spend the rest of their life together in a colorful wedding that took place in December last year, his wife returned to the United States but the musician had to stay in Rwanda to finalise his process of relocating to the US.

The process was long that he was not even able to be by his wife’s side when she gave birth to their first born back in September.

The singer is however, finally in United States and reunited with his family.

Patient Bizimana is the latest gospel musician to depart for the United States after Serge Iyamuremye who left for the same country in July.

Another milestone for House of Tayo

Designer Matthew Rugamba and his whole team at local fashion powerhouse House of Tayo are celebrating yet another achievement, after Peter Junior Nyong’o, a younger brother to Oscar-winning actress Lupita Amondi Nyong’o, appeared on the red carpet wearing Tayo’s collection at the world premiere of Marvel Studios’ "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” held at the Dolby Theatre on October 26, 2022 in Los Angeles, California.

The actor who is also a musician had in the past rocked another customized suit made by House of Tayo during Black Panther 1 premiere that took place in 2018.

This year’s premiering red carpet featured some of the best fashion designers and celebrities including Rihanna and his boyfriend ASAP Rocky.

Rugamba this time made the latest collection, drawing inspiration from Chadwick’s divine Versace look from the 2018 Black Panther Met Gala to design Junior’s Wakanda Forever recent outfit.

With the latest achievement, Tayo’s collections are increasingly attracting the attention of many celebrities, with their customized Ijezi now becoming a household sleeve for many celebrities visiting Rwanda.

Niyo Bosco parts ways with manager Irene Murindahabi

A month after he expressed his frustration that his music is feeding others rather than him, musician Niyo Bosco finally put an end to his music journey under the management of MIE, owned by showbiz journalist Irenee Mulindahabi, the man who contributed a lot to who the musician is now.

Singer Niyo Bosco (R) last week announced that he was parting ways with manager Irene Murindahabi. Net photos.

A relationship between the two started to deteriorate in September when the visually-impaired singer claimed that some people are benefiting from his music while he struggles to get a penny from what should be feeding him.

The singer never pointed at anybody behind his financial sufferings but, since the post came out, his manager Mulindahabi has been on people’s lips with so many thinking that he was taking away the singer’s revenues for his own benefits.

His statement cast doubts over his future with Mulindahabi’s management until he officially announced that he parted ways with his management in a shocking statement that he released on his social media on Saturday, October 29.

While no one doubts his skills and talent composing, writing and recording hits, it remains unclear whether the singer will continue doing music without management or if somebody else is on alert to make the best out his music potential.
