ERIC Dusingizimana is by far the in-form batsman in Rwandan cricket right now. After eight innings in this year’s RCA Twenty20 Cup, the national team/Young Tigers opening batsman-wicket keeper has grossed a decent 272 runs, making him the competition’s leading run scorer.

The 21-year-old has been the pinnacle of Young Tigers and RCA Select’s decent run in the competition.

The student studded side is third on the table thanks immensely to Dusingizimana’s great innings. Out of five games, Young Tigers have won three and lost two while RCA Select are still unbeaten.

Dusingizimana has scored two half centuries, an unbeaten 54 against Right Guards and 52 against Challengers, 39 not out against RCA Select, 34 not out against Challengers, 36 against Indorwa, 33 not out against Kigali Cricket Club and 34 not out against Challengers.

In Young Tigers’ defeats against RCA Select and Indorwa, the opener scored an unbeaten 39 and 36 respectively. Despite his rapid progress, RCA’s Emmanuel Byiringiro believes that there is still more to come from the player.

"Of course he has improved but there is still room for him to even get better,” said Byiringiro.

RCA Select are still at the helm of the table with 22 points; Challengers are second with 14 points, one more than Young Tigers in third.

Later this year, Rwanda will make their fourth appearance in the ICC World Cricket League Division 3 tournament which merges Africa’s ICC affiliate countries. The event which was made annual early this year will be staged in Malawi.
