Not so long ago little Tom took his mother to a nearby shopping centre to buy a few things they needed for the house. Tom always loved shopping trips with his mother. Every time she asked him to take her he was really excited.

Tom instantly started planning for the things he wanted his mother to buy for him.

"I’ll pick chocolates, sweets and bananas and then mummy will just have to pay for me,” Tom thought. As soon as they got to the supermarket Tom run across the supermarket and started to pick sweets and chocolates.

"Mum can I have this and that and that,” Tom asked.

"Yes, just take what you need,” said Tom’s mother. Finally they finished shopping and walked out of the supermarket. As soon as they got outside they noticed street children playing by.

Tom’s mother took out everything Tom had picked for himself and gave the children.

Tom was really disappointed and sad.

"Mum! Why did you do that for?” asked Tom.

"Well my dear boy not once did you remember to say thank you even after I bought you everything you wanted, these children will appreciate the sweets more than you did,” replied Tom’s mother.

From that day Tom learned his lesson and always thanked everyone who did something good to him. It’s not good to forget to say thank you to all the people in your life especially mum and dad who always give you what you ask for.

They are good to you and so you should appreciate them more. So next time someone gives or does something good for you, appreciate them.
