Rwandan Cricket has received a huge boost after receiving an astro-turf from Africa Cricket Association (ACA), the cricket governing body in Africa.

According to reports from Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA), the astro-turf will be flown to Kampala from South Africa this weekend.

"The turf should be in Kampala this weekend from where we intend to pick it up,” RCA’s president Charles Haba said.

"It’s a very good offer from ACA and we appreciate everything they are doing to put Rwandan cricket on the map.”

The turf is also timely for the national cricket team as they prepare for the upcoming ICC World Cricket League Div 3 tournament in Malawi.

"The turf will definitely provide a much better batting and bowling surface for the guys so it is a big boost,” RCA’s president Charles Haba noted.

The WCL-which is an affiliates tournament is slated for early June and pits Rwanda with Mozambique, Ghana, Swaziland, Sierra Leone, Morocco, Lesotho, Gambia and Malawi.

Rwanda’s cricket future was put in jeopardy last year when RCA lost its playing ground to Ferwafa (the country’s soccer governing body) in mysterious circumstances.
