GASABO - Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Group yesterday paid tribute to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi who are laid to rest at the Kigali Memorial Centre in Gisozi.

The bank which opened its offices in Rwanda in December last year, joined the rest of the country during the Genocide’s 15th commemoration to sympathize with the families, friends and communities who lost their loved ones during the dark period.

"During this period when all Rwandans remember their loved ones, our presence here today is real testimony to the message of hope contained in the theme of the 15th Commemoration,” Maurice Toroitich,  KCB’s Managing Director told scribes at Gisozi.

He added that the company was pleased to be part of the renewal process of Rwandans to give a fresh and meaningful start to life and to rebuild the country for the benefit of the present and future generations.

He revealed that KCB will be playing its rightful role as part of the Rwandan community to promote long lasting peace and stability, mindful and responsive to the economic and social needs of its customers’ and the community at large.

Through the KCB foundation in partnership with other stakeholders, Toroitich pledged to continuously look for opportunities to contribute on a sustainable basis to projects and initiatives geared towards alleviating poverty and distress arising directly and indirectly from the Genocide.

He saluted the people and Government of Rwanda for strong efforts towards achieving long lasting unity and reconciliation both in the country and in the entire region.
