Cycling: Renus Byiza signs for French club CR4C Roanne

Rwandan cyclist, Renus Byiza Uhiriwe, has signed for a new French club, CR4C Roanne, after completing his two-year contract with South African club Qhubeka Cycling Team, which he joined in 2020.

His new club, which is in a rebuilding process, announced that Uhiriwe is among the players who they will use in 2023.

The youngster announced on the CR4C Club Facebook page that he was delighted to sign for the French club. The 21-year-old has made a name for himself in cycling. He rose to prominence playing for Rubavu's Benediction Ignite before moving to South Africa's NTT Pro Cycling [new Team Qhubeka].

Uwihirwe said: "CR4C has confidence in my ability, this year is a special opportunity for me. Due to the level of the games on the European continent, I will continue to improve and prepare for the Olympics. I hope to have a good year.”

The athlete won the 2018 Rwanda Cycling Championships, won gold at the 2019 African Championships in Ethiopia in the youth category and won the 2019 Rwanda Cycling Cup. In 2020, he finished 16th in La Tropicale Amissa Bongo.
