IIn our professional world, it’s quite clear that we ought to be curious about what we want to achieve as well as be able to connect with others.

This is believed to be one way of loving and developing interest in how to progress our career.

This learning mindset, experts say helps when it comes to seeking opportunities on how to find new ways of doing things, not forgetting innovating and improving your work in general.

Venant Nambaje, a software engineer working with Arc Tec Consultant ltd in Kigali believes that when you have a passion for learning and developing talent, it will automatically ensure that you stay engaged, motivated, and driven all the time.

He says that when it comes to training and development, there are always setbacks and that if you are passionate about pursuing this, it all comes easy as you won’t require much effort to find solutions.

Nambaje goes on to explain that from his understanding when you have a passion for learning and development, it shows that you are eager to get out of your comfort zone and do what it takes to reach your goals.

"Just like being passionate in what you do, when you are passionate about learning and development, it will act as your drive to move in the right direction,” he says.

However, he notes that this doesn’t just happen anyhow, but developing a passion for learning and development is important.

How this could be done

Grace Gentile Uwimana, a social worker working with a non-governmental organization in Kigali says one way to achieve this is to have clear objectives and goals.

She believes that this could range from creating a plan that outlines your goals, to know how to achieve them within a specific period of time.

For her, being committed is also another aspect. When you put all your mind and strength into the most important things in your life, it becomes easier to navigate through life.

"It also helps one to realise their personal or professional dreams and aspirations. This could also help especially when you choose to consider developing a set of smaller goals that contribute to your overall objective,” she says.

She notes that this also aids especially when it comes to creating a plan that will see you create more time and energy for your interests, regardless of other tasks or events that may arise.

Ndambaje, on the other hand, says when committing to developing your interests, it’s important to always be willing to learn and ask questions where you have issues.

He says this could be getting to know things about issues and developments in the profession.

Also, remaining alert or keeping up to date with developments and what interests you are important as this will positively impact your work.

In addition, he says that connecting with a network of leaders to share different ideas is paramount as this will see you become an open-minded person to new ideas and approaches that you aspire to follow.

"On needs to also develop and find interest in letting others know about what they can do best and areas that need to be worked on,” he says.
