The year 2021 has started on a high note for Rwandan celebrities who are getting engaged, one at a time, promising to be the year many of them will tie the knot.

On January 13, U.S-based Rwandan singer Emmanuel Nsengiyumva, known by the stage name Emmy, got engaged to his long-time girlfriend identified as Joyce Umuhoza, in a romantic set up on Lake Kivu in Rubavu town.

The "Care” singer took to social media to heap romantic words on his lover:

"I chose you and I will choose you over and over again without a doubt. Distance was just a test of how far our love could travel... I’m proud that we finally made it! Thank you for trusting me. I love you Hoza,” the R&B artiste posted.

The two who have been together since the beginning of 2018 will reportedly tie the knot later this year, most likely in Rwanda and later the U.S where Emmy resides.

Emmy followed in the footsteps of his mate and fellow U.S-based singer Meddy Ngabo, who proposed to his long-term girlfriend Mimi Mehfira in December.

Meddy popped the question in a colourful event in Dallas, Texas, on December 18, 2020, which happened to be Mehfira’s birthday.

Meddy and Mimi are expected to walk down the aisle this year.

The "Carolina” hit-maker has been dating the beautiful Mehfira, who originates from Ethiopia, for some time and visited Kigali in 2018, confirming the seriousness of their relationship.

Similarly, this year, singer Clarisse Karasira will also be ‘taken’ following her January 8 engagement to Ifashabayo Sylivain Dejoie, who also happens to be her manager.

The "Rutaremara” songstress is over the moon after she said ‘yes’ to Ifashabayo and says they plan to officially wed sometime this year if the government eases new coronavirus restrictions to permit weddings.

Karasira said Yes to Ifashabayo.

The singer has been spotted hand-in-hand with the love of her life who took over management of her affairs since 2019 after she parted ways with her then manager Alain Mukuralinda.

Reliable sources also indicate that singer The Ben, real name Benjamin Mugisha, could be next in the queue following his recent public display of affection with Pamela Uwicyeza.

The artiste is head over heels in love with the Miss Rwanda 2019 contestant, boldly posting her photos with the singer, captioning them ‘butter and jelly’. It is not yet clear who butter or jelly is but what is clear is that the love between the couple is blossoming. Will they be next? Time will tell.

Last year in August, rapper Fireman, real name Francis Uwimana, popped the question to his girlfriend Charlotte Kabera and the duo was expected to say ‘I do’ this year, but it appears Covid-19 has put their plans on hold till further notice.
