Rwandan-born dancer and actress Sherrie Silver turned 26 this week. The UK-based choreographer and humanitarian ambassador has been celebrating in a big way, presenting her apartment in London to her family.

The "Dance and Cook” star, who is also an MTV Video Music Award winner for choreographing Childish Gambino’s "This is America”, is a big achiever at her age, having emerged as a child star when she featured in ‘Africa United’, a movie about the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

"Dance and Cook with me my Africa birthday cake! It’s my birthday! Check out my mum killing the dance in her red dress,” the singer posted on her Instagram with her family dancing.

"Finally, my family got to see my new house for the first time ever since I bought it. Thank you God for allowing me to live another year,” she added, adding ‘26’, her age.

Sherrie Silver then held a special dance and cook session, the first one filmed in her new place, which attracted viewers from many African countries, though she cheekily said Somalia and Madagascar kept falling off but she was determined.

A number of stars including Paul Okoye, formerly of PSquare, Nigerian songster Joeboy, Fuse ODG, Mr Eugy, actor Prince David Osei and Maleek Berry, among others, sent birthday wishes her way.

There was no better way to celebrate her birthday than to dance with her family to the groovy South African song "Jelusalema” by Master KG. She was perhaps more surprised by her mother’s moves, who seemed to grab the spotlight from her daughter who has danced her way to the top levels of celebrity circles.

From hanging out with Beyoncé to rubbing shoulders with Rihanna and scooping global awards, Sherrie Silver has outdone herself at just 26. Most importantly, she has never forgotten her roots.

In her birthday video, Sherrie Silver is seen dancing to Will.i.am and Cody Wise’s song "It’s My Birthday” and she flaunts some Rwandan francs on the part where they sing "amma spend my money”.

The singer also has different humanitarian activities back home aimed at supporting vulnerable households, especially children, as well as talent development. She is also invited to participate and speak at different events.

In April, when she bought her apartment in Notting Hill, an affluent suburb in West London, Sherrie Silver said that her dream was to acquire a house in London as well as land in Rwanda and London, and she achieved that before her 26th birthday.
