Claims that Mohamed was sent by women

SOUTHERN PROVINCE

HUYE — A Tanzanian Pastor was on Thursday produced before the Huye Court of Higher Instance on charges of divisionism, defamation and attack on religious freedom.

In a preliminary hearing of the case, prosecution alleged that Doctor Pastor Hussein Mubarak Paul claimed that Mohamed, whom Moslems regard as God’s messenger was sent by women further alleging that Mohammed is the cause of all problems in the world.

During the hearing, prosecution pleaded with the court to serve the defendant with a 30 day preventive detention so as to allow investigations into the case to continue unimpeded.

However, John Mulisa, the defence lawyer for the accused, in his submission implored the court to grant his client pre-trial release stressing that his client had a known address and could be produced before court whenever he is needed.

The court that was presided over by Judge Immaculée Uwera, is expected to pass its verdict today (Friday). The controversial Tanzanian Pastor,is said to have been detained in different African and Arab countries before. when contacted the Mufti of Rwanda, Sheikh Swaleh Habimana declined to comment on the issue.

"I don’t have enough facts about that issue, I’m yet to get details of the case,” responded.
