Handball: U20, U18 teams in residential camp ahead of regional tournament

The U-20 and U-18 national teams on Thursday, October 13, entered residential training in preparation for the upcoming International Handball Federation Africa Zone V Challenge Trophy tournament, in Kenya.

Team tactician Anaclet Bagirishya said the camp will be hosted in Sovu, Huye district.

The tournament is slated for October 24-30.

In 2018, the U20 team clinched the regional Zone V Challenge Trophy for a second time after beating Uganda 32-27 in the finals.

In 2016, the Rwanda U-20 men’s handball team claimed their first regional title after defeating Uganda (hosts) in the final of the biennial IHF Africa Zone V Challenge Trophy tournament.

Men’s juniors’ provisional squad:

Dominique Nsabimana, Prince Shema, Celestin Reba, Amurani Nshimiyimana, Jean d’Amour Byiringiro, Emmanuel Iragena, Fabrice Iradukunda, Emmanuel Kubwimana, Samuel Mugabo, Ernest Yesurakiza, Thierry Hakizimana, Etienne Ndayisabye, Maurice Nsangayezu, Ivan Patrick Rugwiro, Alain Iradukunda and Donath Nshimyumukiza.
