Three directors from Kigali City Council have resigned from their respective posts just in a space of one week, The New Times has learnt.

A source from KCC who spoke on condition of anonymity said last week that the directors resigned because their superiors were ‘harassing’ them, a claim repeatedly denied by KCC.

"The directors complained that somebody was interfering with their work and decided to resign,” the source added.

"It is not true that there was somebody harassing them or interfering in their work. They failed to do their work properly and they are telling lies,” Bruno Rangira, KCC spokesperson said by phone.

The directors, who resigned between February 15- 22 this year include the Director General, Benon Muhumuza, Joram Kabukumba (Human Resource) and David Nyanshayija (Social and Political Affairs).

Rangira said the Director General and the Human Resources Director had been involved in an administrative misconduct during a recruitment process sometimes back. When management found out, the Human Resources was suspended.

"The Human Resources actually resigned when he was still on suspension,” Rangira added but declined to give more details. He said the Social and Political Affairs Director had cited personal reasons as a cause of his resignation.

"KCC is open. You can come and go,” Rangira went on. Following the resignations, KCC has appointed three interim directors.
