Players abroad: Byiringiro, Bizimana score ahead of international break

Attacker Lague Byiringiro scored for Sandviken IF who beat Sollentuna FK 4-3.

It was a fruitful weekend for Rwandan players abroad as Djihad Bizimana and Lague Byiringiro found the back of the net in Ukraine and Sweden respectively before flying out for national duty for Amavubi.

Many more Rwandan players featured for their clubs over the weekend in various countries. In this article, Times Sport presents a recap of their performances.

Belgium

Teenager Hakim Sahabo replaced Colombian international Steven Alzate in the 85th minute as his club Standard Liege beat KAS Eupen 4-0 at Stade Maurice Dufrasne on Saturday, March 16.

In the same country, another Rwandan midfielder Samuel Marie Gueulette played 90 minutes as his club Raal La Louviere lost 2-1 to Heist. It was the team’s first defeat in 26 games this season.

France

In France, defender Warren Kamanzi assisted Thijs Dalliga's equalizer and played 78 minutes as his club Toulouse FC lost 2-1 to Olympique Lyon in the French Ligue 1.

In the French fourth division, centre back Bryan Ngwabije did not appear in ASF Andrezieux’s team which lost 2-1 to Jura Sud.

Meanwhile, in the U19 Championnat Group A in the same country, striker Thierry Musabyimana also did not make the squad for Le Havre as they lost 2-1 to Valenciennes.

Ukraine

Rwanda skipper Djihad Bizimana pulled off a brilliant performance with a 95th minute winning goal for title chasing FC Kryvbas who beat Kolos Kovalivka 1-0 on Saturday, March 16.

Switzerland

In the Swiss topflight, Joel Mugisha came in to replace Congolese star Meschak Elia in the 60th minute as his club Young Boys SC lost 2-0 to Laussane at Stade Tuilliere on Sunday, March 17.

In the same division, Johan Marvin Kury who is nursing an injury was not involved as his club Yverdon Sports lost 2-0 to Lugano.

Midfielder Quentin Rushenguzimingega played the full match as his team FC Echallens beat FC Kosova 4-2 on penalties in the Eerste Cup. Regular time had ended goalless.

Macedonia

In Macedonia, central defender Abdul Rwatubyaye was a full timer for FC Shkupi in a 0-0 draw with Voska Sport.

Netherlands

Winger Noam Emeran was an unused substitute for FC Groningen who beat De Graafschap 4-2 in the Dutch Eerste Divisie.

Morocco

Left back Emmanuel Imanishimwe was on the bench for Botola Pro League leaders AS FAR who pipped OC Safi 1-0 on match day 24.

USA

Striker Innocent Nshuti played full time for One Knoxville FC as they beat Charlotte Independence 2-1 in match day one of the 2024 American third tier League.

Sweden

Winger Lague Byiringiro was on target for Sandviken IF who beat Sollentuna FK 4-3. Fellow countryman Yannick Mukunzi missed the game through a back injury.

Midfielder Rafael York saw full time action for Gefle IF who lost 2-1 to Ostersunds in a Swedish second league friendly encounter.

Ange Mutsinzi who is the captain of FK Jerv played full time as they lost 4-3 to Bryne in Norway.

Latvia

Central defender Dylan Georges Maes enjoyed 90 minutes of action for Jelgava who lost 3-2 to Tukums 2000 FC in match day 2 of the Latvian top tier.
