"Jay Polly was my closest friend in the music industry, who I considered a brother, and I want his children to experience their father's legacy during my concert," Platini Nemeye, popularly known as Platini P, has said.

The Rwandan music star said this on Wednesday, March 13, during an exclusive interview with The New Times about his upcoming debut solo show, which is meant to celebrate his three-year solo music journey and almost 14 years of his contribution to his former music band Dream Boyz.

When asked why he invited Jay Polly's children to the show, Platini said, "First of all, rest in peace my brother. Jay was one of my closest brothers in the game. He never got a tribute concert, but I want to have a moment to celebrate his life at my concert, which is why I invited all his children".

Jay Polly, who passed away in 2021, was the flag bearer of Rwanda's hip hop genre and arguably the best rapper Rwanda had in his generation.

During his time, the rapper was close to Dream Boyz and collaborated with the duo on a number of songs, including 'Umutashye', which is one of the biggest classics to come out of the group.

According to Platini, his upcoming show, dubbed Baba Xperience, is at an advanced stage of preparation and is expected to feature some of the biggest local artistes including Riderman, Butera Knowless, Nel Ngabo, Kenny Sol, Big Fizzo and Eddy Kenzo among others.

The concert will take place at Camp Kigali on March 30, and tickets will cost Rwf5,000 for general seating, Rwf10,000 for VIP seating and Rwf200,000 for a VVIP table.
