As we celebrate International Women’s Day this year under the theme "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”, it’s crucial to reflect on the intersection of women’s empowerment and online safety. In today’s digital age, where connectivity knows no bounds, women are not only leading progress but also facing unique challenges in the online sphere.
Online respect is the cornerstone of a safe and inclusive digital community. However, the reality is that women often face the harshest effects of online disrespect, harassment, and cyberbullying. Behind the screen lies a world where hurtful comments and language can deeply impact women’s mental health and well-being.
At Get Safe Online Rwanda, in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Authority Rwanda (NCSA) and the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, we are committed to addressing these challenges head-on. This International Women’s Day, we’re championing women’s voices and shedding light on the importance of fostering online respect to empower women in the digital space.
