With two days to the start of Tour du Rwanda 2024, Team Rwanda’s head coach David Louvet has anticipated a tough contest but insists they are ready to compete.

Tour du Rwanda, a 740km race, is scheduled to run from February 18 to 25.

Team Rwanda is one of the three teams representing Rwanda in this year’s race, alongside Maystars and Java Inovotec.

"The preparations are done. They (players) are a little bit tired but it is normal,” the coach said.

"The competition is big and we know that. Big teams are coming for the tournament but we will be ready. No pressure for us. What we want is to show that we are here for the race and show what we are capable of,” he added.

He noted that the players are physically and mentally ready to give their best.

Since 2014, Rwandans had dominated the annual competition until 2018 when the race went to level of 2.1, where they have so far failed to impress.

Under the new level, no Rwandan rider has won a stage in the race’s last three editions.
