MUSANZE—Three people were crashed beyond recognition when a vehicle they were travelling in rammed into a heavily loaded truck yesterday.

The victims were identified as Manisur Habyarimana, Innocent Kayumba and another only identified as Nshimyimana. All the deceased were workers of a construction company, Strabag, who were heading for work.

The accident which occurred at 6 am, a few kilometres from Ruhengeri town on the Ruhengeri-Gisenyi road, awakened area residents who heard a loud blast of the crashing the minibus.  

Eye witnesses said that truck bearing Congolese number plate KV2137BA, belonging to TMK Company of DR Congo, was driving on the wrong lane.

The driver of the truck and his turn boy had disappeared by the time police arrived.

This is the second fatal accident in the area involving a goods truck to be reported within a period of less than two weeks.

The first one happened last Monday at the Rusumo Trading Centre along the Kigali- Gatuna highway when a goods truck collided with a commuter taxi killing 11people on the spot.

The victims were students of the Kigali Independent University (ULK).
