February, the shortest month of the year is here, bringing along a lineup of exciting events to kick off the weekend. As always, The New Times is here with a guide to the top 10 events to keep you engaged in the Rwandan capital.

1. Executive Affairs at Shooters Lounge

For those looking for an after-work party, Shooters Lounge in Kimihurura is the place to be on Friday, February 2. Hosted by Joxy Parker, the event will feature music by Nigerian DJ Flava, DJ Pius, DJ Gulain, DJ Ice, and MC Tino. The party starts at 7 pm, and entrance is free.

2. Africa Cup of Nations Live Screening at BK Arena

Sports enthusiasts can head to BK Arena on Friday, February 2, to catch the live screening of the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals. Nigeria faces Angola, and DR Congo takes on Guinea. The event is free of charge, and doors open at 6 pm.

3. Shot for K-Shot at BIGGIE’Z

BIGGIE’Z on KK 15 Road, opposite IPRC Kigali, will host a night of celebration featuring rapper Kenny K-Shot on Friday, February 2. DJs Brek and Fla will be spinning music, and happy hour starts from 6 pm to 8 pm. Special offers include a bucket of 5 beers with Biggie’z Kuku Meatballs.

4. Ahwii Premiere Acoustic Show at Kaso Kigali

Emerging artiste Okkama is set to launch his Extended Play (EP) titled 'Ahwii' this Friday, February 2, at Kaso Kigali (KK 360 ST Kicukiro) starting from 6 pm. Admission is Rwf5,000, with a VIP option available at Rwf30,000. For those seeking a more exclusive experience, a table with a bottle is offered at Rwf300,000.

The show anticipates the presence of several celebrities coming to support Okkama, with confirmed guests including Bushali, B-Threy, Yuhi Mic, Kevin Kade, Killaman, Alyn Sano, Mistaek, Calvin Mbanda, Producer Element, and more. Okkama is scheduled to perform all the tracks from his debut EP during the event.

5. Beyond The Shame: Theatrical Performance at Goethe-Institut Kigali

Following the release of his documentary last year, Steve Khald is set to present a theatrical performance encompassing dance, theater, poetry, and music, all centered around his documentary titled ‘Beyond the Shame’.

This performance delves into the challenging subjects of drug addiction and mental health struggles. Potential attendees should be aware that the content may be unsettling to some individuals. The performance will commence at 6 pm and offers free entrance at Goethe-Institut Kigali (13 KN 27 st, Kigali) this Friday, February 2.

6. Feels Game Night at Feels Coffee Studio

For enthusiasts of social engagement games, an opportunity awaits this Friday, February 2, at Feels Coffee Studio (KG 628 ST). Attendees can play a diverse array of games, including Suck and Blow, Water Glass Filling, Wild Charades, Sotally Tober, Drunken Tower, Do or Drink, Truth or Drink, Mini Pool Table, Foosball, Flirt Dare Drinking Games, Video Games, Flipping Bottles, Never Have I Ever, Guess the Cup, Jenga, UNO, and various other board games.

The event kicks off at 7 pm and continues until 11 pm, with an entrance fee of Rwf3,500 per person.

7. Kwanza Fest at Kaso Kigali

The music festival kicks off on Saturday, February 3, at Kaso Kigali (KK 360 ST Kicukiro) from 7 pm. Headliners include singer Kenny Mirasano, traditional dancer and rapper Umukondo Gatore, and students from Nyundo music school. Tickets are available at Rwf5,000 and Rwf10,000 for VIP.

8. Chef Maria Shwen Shwen Tasting Experience at Nyurah Restaurant

Renowned chef Maria Bradford, author of ‘Sweet Salone: Recipes from the Heart of Sierra Leone,’ will showcase traditional Sierra Leonean dishes and Afro Fusion cuisine on Friday, February 2, and Saturday, February 3, from 6 pm to 10 pm at Nyurah Restaurant (Alliance Towers, BPR Building, Mezzanine Floor, KN 67 St).

9. Mums Chat! at Nature Kigali

Bridge the Gap is hosting a Mums Chat on Saturday, February 3, at Nature Kigali (Nyarutarama KG 515 St - House 9). First-time moms and expectant mothers can join to discuss parenting and family. Admission is Rwf10,000, which is consumable.

10. Tempah’D Night In Kigali at Cadillac Night Club

Club music lovers are in for a treat on Saturday, February 2, at Cadillac Night Club. The theme is white and fluorescent colors, and it’s a ‘Glow in the Dark edition.’ Admission is Rwf10,000, and the event features music by Hottempah, Deejay June, DJ Alida, and Muun from 9 pm till late.
