The continental competition, which officially opened on Monday, January 29, will see the winner, in both men and women categories, book a ticket to the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games scheduled for August 28 to September 8.

Mosaad Rashad's men were too dangerous for the Algerians to stop as they stormed to the victory in three consecutive sets 25-13, 25-20 and 25-11.

The team returns to action on Wednesday, January 31, when they face East African rivals Kenya, same venue.

Rwanda is among eight countries vying for the lone ticket available to qualify for the Paris 2024 Paralympics. Others include Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Kenya, Algeria, Zimbabwe and hosts Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the women's national team takes on Nigeria on Tuesday, January 30, at 5:00pm Kigali Time.
