Thierry Froger, the head coach of APR, has expressed concerns about the mounting injury woes plaguing his team as they gear up for crucial fixtures in the Rwanda Premier League and Peace Cup.

Currently, some of the team’s key players like Apam Bemol Assoungue and Victor Mbaoma are injured, posing problems for Froger who may miss their services in some matches.

Nigerian hitman Mbaoma sustained a knock during APR's 3-1 victory over Young Africans on Sunday, January 7 during the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar. His unavailability is a concern for the team since he has been a great goal scoring asset for them.

So far, he is the top scorer of the 2023-24 season and was recently named the best player in the month of December.

Club physician Maj. Dr. Jean Marie Vianney Hope confirmed that Mbaoma is not fit enough to participate in some upcoming matches.

Both Mbaoma and Assoungue were absent from the Peace Cup round of 16 match where APR FC secured a 1-0 victory against AS Kigali on Thursday, January 17.

Coach Thierry Froger, referring to the reports from team doctors, said that Mbaoma will be sidelined for a month, while Assongue may return earlier.

"We lost Apam, we lost Victor, so it's challenging for us, but we will persevere,” he said.

The situation poses a significant challenge for APR FC and Coach Thierry Froger, who now face the task of finding suitable replacements within their squad for Mbaoma. Some of the options upfront for the French coach include Taiba Mbonyumwami and Ali Abdelrahman.

The next four games, which Mbaoma may miss due to his injury, include games against Police FC, Etincelles FC, Musanze FC, and Sunrise.
