Kiyovu Sports Club has parted ways with Ugandan striker Brian Kalumba after a brief six-month period with the team.

The forward joined the "Green Baggies" in July 2023, signing a three-year deal. However, he struggled to secure a regular starting position.

According to sources, a meeting took place on Tuesday, January 16, between the club's management and the player, resulting in a mutual agreement to terminate the contract.

The decision was formalised as both parties signing the termination agreement.

At 25 years old, Kalumba has previously played for Ugandan champions Vipers SC as well as Gaddafi FC, another Ugandan club.

His acquisition by Kiyovu Sports had been seen as an attempt to fill the void left by Striker Erisa Keith Ssekisambu, who was released by the club in June 2023.

Kiyovu has faced challenges in scoring goals during the 2023/24 season. While Burundi's Richard Kilongozi has displayed brilliance, the other two strikers – Liberian Mikel Freeman and Brian Kalumba, failed to make a significant impact.

Currently, Kiyovu Sports sits in 6th place on the table with 22 points from 16 games.
