The Ministry of Health in conjunction with TRAC plus and ACCESS project organised a meeting last Thursday to reveal results of a countywide wide survey which showed that a percentage of 65.8 children suffer from soil-transmitted worms while 2.7 suffer intestinal bilihazia.

Children should carefully consider these figures because worms are very dangerous and most cases they may lead to death.

Prof. Doctor Michael Kramer, the Director General of TRAC plus advised that it is important for all children and adults to wash their hands very well before eating anything.

It is also important to know that worms mainly infect children when they eat unwashed food. Soil transmitted worms are excreted and when they get back into the soil, they contaminate  the unwashed fruits we eat.

Now that the infection levels are high, we must be very careful about cleanliness.
