Rwandan side Police Volleyball club came from a set down to beat Uganda’s Sport-S in four sets (3-1) in the final to clinch the Africa Zone V Club Championship at BK Arena on Sunday.
Police won the regional volleyball tournament before thousands of Volleyball enthusiasts and high-profile delegates, avenging their early 3-2 loss to Sport-S in the group stages.

Police had a poor start in the final, losing the opening set 19-25 before making a spirited turnaround to win three sets in a row.
They took the second set 25-14 in a convincing style to level the match.

The likes of setter Crispin Ntanteteli, skipper Olivier Ntagengwa, Nigerian Chris Udah and Kenyan Makuta Chumba formed an aggressive attack coupled with coupled with magnificent defense from libero Alain Irakoze to dominate Sport-S in the third set which they went to claim with 25-20.
With one more set to celebrate the title, Fred Musoni&039;s men had settled well in the game, putting in exceptional blocks from the Ugandans’ serves while also imposing an attacking masterclass that earned them the victory after winning the fourth set 25-15.
Middle blockers Frank Shyaka and Placide Madison Sibomana made key contributions in blocking and attacking to inspire Police win the first men’s Zone V title.
Meanwhile, Kenya Pipeline Corporation were crowned women’s Zone V Champions after defeating Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) in three straight sets 3-0 (25-20, 25-23 and 25-19).
APR Women claimed the third place in women category after beating Police women 3-1 (26-24, 25-21, 21-25, 25-21) while, in men category, APR won struck bronze after surving a comeback from newcomers Kepler in a five-set thriller.
APR were ahead in the two opening sets 25-21 and 25-18 when Kepler fought back to claim the third set 25-21 and the fourth 30-28 to force the game into a tiebreaker which the Military side won 15-12.
The Zone V Club Championship is considered as one of the most prestigious volleyball tournaments in East Africa attracting the best clubs across the region.
