Munyantwali backs Junior Wasps to shine in CECAFA U15

FERWAFA president Alphonse Munyantwali greets U15 coaches at a a training session ahead the 2023 CECAFA U15 Championship which is due in Uganda from November 4-18.

Rwanda FA president Alphonse Munyantwali is convinced that the current Rwanda U15 group can defy the odds and impress at the 2023 CECAFA U15 Championship which is due in Uganda from November 4-18.

The team departed for Njeru, Uganda, on Thursday evening, two days before the competition kicks off.

Under the guidance of head coach Sosthène Habimana, the boys are eager to make their mark in the tournament and Munyantwali backed them to show what they are capable of going forward.

The FA boss urged them to keep dreaming big, let their ‘incredible’ speak for them and show they can do against East African opponents.

"We all agree that it’s important to compete in the Cecafa U15 but you need to go there and show what you have. This is a good opportunity for you to raise your level and make us proud,” he told the players.

Rwanda was pooled in Group B alongside Tanzania, Zanzibar, and Somalia while Group A features hosts Uganda, Ethiopia, Djibouti, and South Sudan.

The country’s participation in the CECAFA U15 tournament marks another significant milestone while it also highlights the country’s commitment to developing young talent and nurturing a sportsmanship culture.

The last CECAFA U15 edition was held in 2019 in Asmara, Eritrea. Uganda won the tournament after beating Kenya in the final.
