Shouldn't rape victims be allowed to abort?

Editor,

Reference is made to Lonzen Rugira’s article, "Raped at 13, soldiering on...” (The New Times, June 22).

I was hoping this would open the debate on abortion. For the raped women, abortion is not an option but a "must”. There is a difference to be a mother and to be a nice mummy—the latter begins with a willfully consent to have a child in the first place.

I don’t agree with Yulian on that. Abortion is a first class murder. If a born baby can never be killed how is the yet to be born baby different? He/she is the same person growing up, and this was a necessary stage for all of us living today.

Different stages of human development should never be regarded different objects. Abortion is wickedness, it’s a terribly evil and nobody should ever consider it. Abortion is condemning an innocent person to death.

A rapist is the one in the wrong and should be the one to die, but the conceived person should live. Who knows, he/she might become a more useful person in future than most of the living?
