Rayon Sports have been handed a huge boost as star forward Joackiam Ojera is declared fit for Sunday’s Primus National League derby with bitter rivals APR at Kigali Pele Stadium.

The Ugandan forward has been on the sidelines through an injury he sustained during Blues’ 2-1 victory over Etoile de l'Est on October 11.

He missed the team’s trip to Ubworoherane Stadium on October 15 and his absence was hugely felt as the Blues fell to a shock 1-0 defeat to Musanze FC.

Ojera resumed training last week and he was believed to return to action during club’s 3-0 win over Sunrise on Saturday, October 21 at Kigali Pele Stadium. However, the coach didn’t want risk him as he saw no reason to rush him back from the injury.

According to Rayon Sports Communications Manager Roben Ngabo, Ojera joined the rest of the team in full training on Monday and is fit and ready to play the derby.

"Ojera has been training alone recently and the club says he is now fully-fit. He started training with the rest of the team,” Ngabo told Times Sport.

Rayon Sports are unbeaten in the last three matches against APR and Ojera’s return could boost the Blues’ hopes of making it four wins in a row against the army side which remains unbeaten in their last seven league matches.

The club will, however, be without centre back Aimable Nsabimana who is out through a toe injury while Youssef Rharb will miss the game due to indiscipline.
