Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda to co-host 2027 AFCON

The 17th edition of the African Cup of Nations tournament will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

The three countries from the CECAFA zone won the joint bid to host the biggest football competition on the continent on Wednesday, September 27.

The three countries presented a joint bid in May. They beat competition from Algeria and Botswana to win it.

East Africa has already hosted the AFCON five times, between Sudan and Ethiopia. Sudan hosted it in 1957 and 1970 whereas Ethiopia hosted it in 1962, 1968 and 1976.

Ethiopia (1962) and Sudan (1970) are the only two East African countries that have won the AFCON.
