21-year-old Diana Teta is the female voice behind the hit song Fata Fata and the only female in Gakondo Music group. She talked to Society Magazine’s Doreen Umutesi about her fashion sense.

How would you describe your fashion sense?

On normal days, I will go for casual but if its ceremonies, I respect the dress code. However when I’m going to perform, I always go for long dresses with African fabric just like the one I put on when I performed during Primus Guma Guma Season 4 competition. I always design my stage attire. I buy the material and then take it to the tailor to make my design.

What’s your favourite clothing item?

If I’m told to choose clothing item I can have on any day, any time, it would be jeans and a tiny top or a t-shirt. I think it is because I am not the girly kind. I’m also a shoe lover and I believe shoes bring out the best in any attire. I spend a lot of effort selecting the shoes I will wear.

Where do you shop for clothes?

I don’t have a specific place where I shop. I buy clothes from here or Uganda. It’s only the performing attire that I put a lot of emphasis on. I buy African fabric from anywhere as well.

What do you consider when buying  clothes?

I always consider colour and comfort. My favourite colours are brown and orange, meaning any clothing item with brown or orange will catch my eye.

What is your favourite fashion accessory?

Besides earrings, I will say rings.

What is your favourite clothing item on a guy?

It is definitely shoes.

What’s your favourite scent?

I don’t have a specific kind of scent I like. I will buy anything that smells good. I’m not so picky when it comes to perfume. I am actually careless when it comes to which perfume I will wear. If I can afford, I will buy it.

Any fashion advice?

You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Always go for whatever you feel brings out the best in you. As long as you wear it and you are who you are then that is okay. It is what matters.
