National women’s football championship continues this Sunday when five-time champions AS Kigali host Musanze-based ESIR at Stade de Kigali. Kick off is at 1pm.

T he two teams are separated by just two points in first and second place in Pool A.  After three rounds of the league, AS Kigali lead the Pool with 9 points.

"Our ambition is to win the league for the sixth consecutive time,” AS Kigali head coach, Grace Nyinawumuntu said but also admitted that  she expects a tough challenge from the second-placed side that has won two and drawn one of their opening three fixtures.

In another game in Pool A, Gakenke-based Freedom host Don Bosco Gatenga.

 In Pool B, Gisozi-based The Winners host Inyemera, Kamonyi entertain Bugesera and Les Lionnes will be up against Girls’ Academy at ES Mutunda.

As it stands in Pool B, The Winners lead the table with 9 points; Kamonyi and Inyemera come on second and third position with 7 points respectively, while Les Lionnes, with 6 points stand on fourth.
