ROBERTO Oliveira Goncalves is adamant that Rayon Sports will come back stronger when they take on AS Kigali on Sunday following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of SC Kiyovu last weekend.

Rayon Sports will be up against struggling AS Kigali at Kigali Stadium.

The former champions squandered an opportunity to salvage a point against the Green Baggies last Sunday after going down in the dying seconds of the game, thanks to a well-taken penalty from striker Djuma Nizeyimana who also had scored the opener.

Amavubi midfielder Yannick Mukunzi netted the consolation goal for the Blues.

Rayon will be looking to continue their push in trying close in on the top while AS Kigali are keen to register their first Azam Rwanda Premier League win this season.

The City of Kigali-sponsored side lost 1-0 to Sunrise last week and are winless in their first six games, having lost two and drawn four.

Roberto also wants to narrow down the gap against league leaders APR and second-placed Mukura.

“A win over AS Kigali would bring us back in the contest. It is a very important match,” the Brazilian said.

Having already suffered two losses this term and trailing APR by three points, Roberto is still confident his men can revive their season on course.

He said the players need to give 100 percent of their capacity and it is reported that they have been promised big bonuses if they beat AS Kigali.

Meanwhile AS Kigali assistant coach, Jean De Dieu Mateso, admits that the team has been dropping many points and will be seeking to recover when they face Rayon.

Head coach Djuma Masudi will be facing  his old club where he played and won trophies both as a player and as a coach, his last being the 2016/2017 league title.

In the meantime, Kiyovu were stunned by lowly Bugesera in a 1-0 defeat on Friday, thanks to a lone goal from Allain Kwitonda in the 44th minute, while Musanze and Gicumbi played out a 1-all draw.
